Range of Services

Search Engine version

In the Search Engine version, legal data is indexed with the acclaimed dtSearchâ„¢ full text retrieval system, very powerful search engine software that has the following features:

Phonic search finds words that sound similar to words in your request, like Smith and Smythe

Fuzzy search sifts through scanning and typographical errors. Fuzziness adjusts from 1 to 10 depending on the degree of misspellings.

Synonym uses the built-in WordNet thesaurus to find synonyms of words in your search request. WordNet thesaurus, developed at Princeton University is an extensive lexical and semantic network of the English language. In addition to synonyms it includes brief definitions and links between words other than synonym relationships

Stemming Search enables a user to extend a search to cover grammatical variations of a word. For example, a search for bank would also find banking, banker, banked, bankruptcy etc.

Numeric range search is a search for any numbers that fall within a range. To add a numeric range component to a search request, enter the upper and lower bounds of the search separated by ~ like this: apple w/5 12~17 This request would find any document containing apple within 5 words of a number between 12 and 17.

AND connector in a search request connects two expressions, both of which must be found in any document retrieved. For example: apple pie and poached pear would retrieve any document that contains both phrases.

OR connector in a search request connects two expressions, at least one of which must be found in any document retrieved. For example, apple pie or poached pear would retrieve any document that contained apple pie, poached pear, or both.

NOT connector in front of any search expression reverses its meaning. This allows you to exclude documents from a search. Example: apple sauce and not pear

Wildcard characters * and ?. A ? in a word matches any single character, and a * matches any number of characters. For example: appl* would match apple, application, etc. cipl would match principle, participle, etc. appl? would match apply and apple but not apples. ap*ed would match applied, approved, etc.

Network Capability: Toma Legal retrieve’s licence to you is either a single-user version( Use on one computer) or a LAN 5 version (Use on up to 5 individually licensed computers on a single network in a single organization)

Toma Legal retrieve can search without an index, and can combine indexed (our data) and unindexed searches (your data in your system) in a single request.

E-book Version

The e-book version, is a compressed and encrypted single file containing all data as in dtSearch, but with limited search features, it has the AND and OR operators but your search request has to be precise, it is distributed as shareware, that expires after 15 days, if you want unlimited access to the data repository, then you must buy a registration key to unlock the e-book.
